Racism, Bigotry, Homophobia, Xenophobia, Intolerance, Oppression, and Extremism all have thrived throughout history. When one form of hate seems to slowly end in a region or country it is usually replaced by another form of hate.Is this because society needs to have something to hate?

Also, just so that people don't try to take from my list of types of hate because the word "phobia" is rooted in the wording, the following two words: Xenophobia and homophobia are defined by Webster's dictionary as:

ho·mo·pho·bia
noun
irrational fear of, aversion to, or discrimination against homosexuality or homosexuals

xe·no·pho·bia
noun
fear and hatred of strangers or foreigners or of anything that is strange or foreign

As you can see, hate and/or the act of hate is found in the meanings of both words and so both words are valid to this question.

Can society live without hate?

godsofmarsrblpriest,

First, you seem to have strayed away from the central question and focused more on homophobia and homosexuality.Second, you made typical religious excuses to condone your extreme dislike (hate).Third, you made radical accusations of homosexuals and homosexuality without a shred of viable and un-bias proof. Finally, since you decided to stray from my question I will address one thing to you on your answer, if you can call it an answer to the actual question, if gays are more likely to get AIDS and gays have it more then straights does that mean that Africa has the largest gay population on Earth since Africa has the largest amount of AIDS cases?

It is not SOCIETY, it is an individual matter. Each person has to change their way, if things are to get better.

No. Primate society requires 'others' by which to discern themselves by contrasting themselves with. Our primate social nature requires that we have 'others' with whom we can say we are different, and thus better, than. We thrive on conflict and will only change this through evolution. By becoming Over-men and Uber-femmes, we can break from our evolutionary chains and become Higher Beings bent upon a Better Future for our Over-Children

Yes its possible to NOT hate, it is possible for Muslims to turn away suicide bombers, it is possible for Satanists to stop poisoning christians it is possible, but most unlikely.

as for Homophobia. in itself it is NOT a word defined by HATE.

some people hate because of many different perspectives. Like being molested by a sodomite, or drug raped by a conspiracy of those who choose to criminally defraud.
it is written to HATE the sin, and today christian expand the statement of loving your neighbor and your enemy as hate the sin love the sinner. But criminals do NEED to be punished and the repentant Must be forgiven. They will be forgiven.

as far as homophobia goes. I declare i am such, because of STD, even in the 7th grade I declared i would not have sex of a straight nature due to STD. but the death rate in Gay people is cut in half by health statistics and doubles or triples the rate of aides and only those with large amounts of health coverage can afford expensive medical prognosis. but Most gay men will have more than a 1000 sexual partners, which increases the risk factor for every other partner.

in this sense of being homophobic it is more like self preservation rather than true irrational discrimination. in my veiw, it Is completely rational.
