i work as a temp currently so if i wne ton the sick would have to claim sick pay from the social, also while i keep working i also get my tax credits and the agency will pay my maternity. i know i can start it at any time but just trying to hold out as long as i can. my partner does try to help but my daughter is not his child and she can be a bit clingy to me at the minute so is difficult.

I am 28 weeks and the same way. Along with the tiredness I have severe backache (seeing a physio), abdomen stretching to the point I can't stand for long, cannot sleep etc. i was due to leave work on the 17th April, but Doc has signed me off early so Im now at home. i get sick pay, so its not too difficult and I can sllep in the day if i need to. your baby is more important than any job and u need to take care of yourself. Get to the doc, explain how bad u feel and ask him to sigh u off.. its time to stop work now.
And to the MAN who says pregnancy is not an illness..... it actually is to some. not everyone has a good time of it, and i would LOVE to see how a man would deal with it, most of them can't even deal with a common cold!!!

Hi,
I know how your feeling, im 39wks now and the tiredness is horrific! Mine got bad round about the stage you are now. Unfortunately there doesnt seem to be anything that really works well. For the heartburn i had gaviscon advanced liquid which i kept right by the bed. That way if it woke me up I didnt even need to move to take some and it works as soon as you swallow it so I could usualy get back to sleep. I made sure that I was sleeping raised a bit on a couple of pillows and tried to sleep on my left hand side with a pillow inbetween my legs and under my bump if my tummy was a bit sore. I also tried horlicks beofre going to bed on my midwifes recomendation but although it helped me get off to sleep it didnt keep me sleeping.
I usualy wake up at about half 2. I only lie in bed for 10mins after that and if i cant get back to sleep then i get up for half an hour or so and read a book and have another horlicks. It usualy works but not always.
Good luck.

You dont say where u work. In reality Health and Safety states you should have somewhere to rest for a period of time if u feel you need it, in a quiet place, during the later stages of pregnancy.
In the real work world tho this doesnt always happen (tho I managed to get it). Heartburn is a pain - I know. Try and rest when you get home, even just putting your feet up for a while. Going to bed early also may help if you get enough sleep before you wake at 2. I know this doesnt solve your problem too well. But just try and rest as often as you can.
Good Luck with the rest of your pregnancy xx

Try eating more often during the day, but smaller meals. This way you won't be "full" and get heartburn that easily. Drink lots of water and try to go for a walk once a day. The walk will help make you tired and help you sleep at night. You may need to cut your hours at work or think about maternity leave if it's really bad. You shouldn't be driving when you are really tired. Hang in there, you're almost done!
Congrats!!

I am in the exact same situation. I am also 29 weeks pregnant and dont finish work until the 23 March, and cant wait. I cant sleep, though the past 2 nights have actually been improved compared to the recent weeks. I am trying to stay awake later, and not let myself fall asleep early. I then have a pillow propped up behind me and beside me, as the heartburn is worse when you lie flat. If your proppped up it should help a little.
Stay awake as late as you can, prop up pillows and wish for it all to be over, as it will soon, and people just dont realise how hard going it is, working full-time and being pregnant,
Congratultions and Good Luck

Lol, you sound exactly like my wife! She has about four weeks to go and has had trouble sleeping as well. Here's what usually works for her: 1. She sleeps by herself (it makes a big difference according to her) 2. buy a good bed. We have the Select comfort bed that allows her to adjust the firmness of the bed so she can sleep better. Rather expensive, but very much worth it.

If you are having problems go to your doctor and get them to sign you off sick. You have worked up to this point but as you are not sleeping well it is taking it's toll. T he last thing you want is to run yourself down so that when you do have the baby you are already exhausted. There will be plenty more jobs, only one of you and only one mum for your child.

I had the same problem. Try some herbal tea. don't know how many hours you work, but i had 9 1/2 hour shifts, which I had to cut down to half by the time is was 30 weeks. I was too tired to be awake for that long.

My only suggestion is for you to take little naps during the day whenever you can. Also sleep with your pillows in an upright position so your head is propped up during the night...this will help alleviate some of the heartburn.
Congrats and good luck!

The tiredness in quite normal. In my experience if you find yourself awake at a regular time in the night, that is when you will have to get up to feed the baby when it arrives. I have three children, and they all did this for me. It is a blessing really cos you are used to it by the time they get here.!!
