Beauty, as a component of attraction, is mathematical -the perfect face is a math ratio of 1:1.16. perfect faces are considered more attractive due to genes and lack of diesease. Attraction is chemical in the main - the whole crazy in love thing is a pheremonal thing - the rest of it seems to be power, territory and the use of resources - or the human equivelent of power & wealth - so is it love or a number of massive triggers to make us propagate the species?

I'm not being cynical - just dipassionate - I found the things I read & learnt compelling

It looks like love is something nature invented to get us to do things which are troublesome, and maybe even illogical.

I know someone, who when they did a test, charted on the cynical scale at 88%. I, on the other hand am probably 88% optimistic. Ironic that the two of us share such an incredible *chemistry* or as he calls it, a connection... My friend and I have NEVER met - so, I would therefore conclude that chemistry isn't a pheremonal thing. It's all in the mind, and it's no wonder we only use 10% of it (at the best of times!).

P.s He doesn't think I am attractive, but I think he is incredibly attractive. I would love to check out his *genetic history* given half the chance... BUT, he doesn't believe in *love*. I do. GOOD LUCK in your quest for *truth* x

it is true that faces generally regarded as beautiful can be scientifically measured. the perfect faces, one of which is elizabeth hurley, fit into this ratio/measurement.

yes, i do agree that love and all those emotional rollercoasters are all in the head. after all the human brain evolved and our race succeeded because of its self-preservation functions and perpetuation of the species.

and to quote a favorite line of a character in a TV show, "...love is just nature's trick to get us to reproduce." hahaha, there is a point.

Great theory, but wrong.

I'm a gay man....oldish and uglyish, with a beautiful boyfriend half my age.

We haven't yet managed to propogate anything other than packets of seeds.

Rational thought tells us it is just chemicals in the brain firing off, giving us clues who we would be genetically compatible with.
Irrationally, we don't listen.
