I'm almost 25 and have a 6 month old daughter. I got pregnant taking the pill (don't anyone try to tell me i must have not taken it right - never forgot a single one since i started taking it) so that is no option for me. I'm scared of needles, therefore having injections is no option either.
I really don't want any more kids.

I don't get the bit where people say I'm too yound. I was old enough to get married, old enough to have a baby, old enough to drive a car and make all other decisions in my life.

Yes you can! Im 21 and got my tubes tied after the birth of my youngest daughter whos 3mths old, i had her by c-section and got them to do it while they were there.

I had alot of ppl telling me i was too young but ive had 3 children and ive gone through the pain of losing one when he was 9mths old. I made sure that no-one else was going to change my mind about my choice.

Its your life and your body and i dont think its right that doctors should be able to have a say in this, i agree in eveything you said, I also fell pregnant but i was on the 3mth injection.

Just keep trying until you find a doctor that will tie your tubes, its your right to have it done if thats what you wish!

Good Luck!

It is possible. There are reasons why the one answer talked about how young you are. This is an expensive thing to reverse if it needed to be.

You are old enough to be married, have kids and do a lot of things. I believe the person was wanting to get the message to you that this is for many a permanent solution that can not be undone if they later change their mind.

There are many other factors that need to be looked at in order for a doctor to do this. Many of them you have not listed here. You are aware that this is major surgery and that you will be out of commission for 2 months. With a 6 month old, you will be unable to hold or lift her for 2 months. Forget vacuuming and lifting for the time too. Getting a referral to an OB/GYN to get this done may take some time as well.

Tubal ligations are not 100% effective either. Have u considered a Mirena IUD or the Nuva ring, or even having your husband undergo a vasectomy, it is by far a less risky proceedure which can be done in the urologists office. A vasectomy would remove you from the risk of anesthesia and the risks of surgery.

Yes you can have your tubes tied, most Dr.'s want you to wait until your 25 and have you sign the paper work 6 months before the surgery. If your serious get those papers signed as soon as possible and make the appointments necessary to have the procedure done.
Hope this helps.

this is something you need to talk with your doctor about as they are not happy to do it at such a young age and you'd need to put forward a good case. Go see your doctor.

you are considered young by the medical profession. ie you still have a lot of childbearing years left, it's not just about young in age. if the average age of menopause is 50 and women are still having babies at say, 40 then they may consider well you have 15 years in which you could potentially change your mind. Many have, which is why, I believe they are very unwilling to use this route as a preventative contraceptive measure.

Just to say I greatly admire you for knowing what you want, convincing a doctor may be hard though. If you are really sure you don't want more kids and the pill obviously didn't work then keep badgering until you get what you want, in mean time maybe combination of contraception. Good luck.

I'm pretty sure that you need to have given birth to two children or have some horribly medicle problem for them to sterilize you.

Better to suck it up and go on depo, or figure out what a condom is because two methods combined works better than one. It's worth a slight loss of sensation *for him, mostly* to save yourself 1-2yrs of sleep deprivation.

And the pill doesn't allways work. All women are different, with varrying hormones. What that means is what works for her may not work for you. Maybe times have change in the last few years, but 10th grade sex ed stressed that point without an end two years ago.

I really think that's not a good idea. Most OB will advise you to wait until about age 30+ or so. But still, it is entirely your decision. But having your tubes ties is irreversible, so you won't have the chance to have babies again in case you change your mind.
