We are moving there in the near future and don't want to lose it but also don't want to set up illegally since it will be for fairly long term?

I know you can get BBC legally in the Netherlands on cable, but I don't think you are allowed Sky legally. There are ways around this problem though I should think, mainly involving your local friendly satelite TV man being bunged a few Euros and pointing your dish in the right direction and you finding someone in the UK to register on your behalf and be sent a card to send on to you. That should be legal insofar as you are still paying for it, not using illegal viewing cards.

I would seriously suggest you ring Sky customer services. There are loads of British ex-pats all over Europe who presumably want to sign up to English-speaking channels rather than local ones - they can't all be breaking the law! It might not be illegal to move abroad and still keep a satelite subscription package going. Have you actually tried asking them?

Here in Spain all users of Sky systems are doing it illegally! I don;t know how they do it, but do know they are stealing the signal and have to have whacking great dishes to do it, for which companies here charge a fortune! I don't think british Sky Tv can be received legally outside the UK
