because many have decided not to take the whole package......"for better or worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health till dead do us part"

Marriage is to complete each other not to compete with each other.

I think that most marriages end because one or the other, or both spouses, are too selfish. True love involves being more concerned about the other spouses feelings over their own. In the case where marriages fail you will usually find that one or both of the partners are only concerned about themselves and their feelings, desires, and wants.

We've been happily married 36 years.

Here are what I consider to be critical elements for a successful relationship. Lack of any one of these could be the cause of divorce.

1) A long list of common interests; things you both enjoy doing TOGETHER as opposed to separate interests and separate groups of friends.

2) A lot of tolerance for each other's differences. As much as you share in common, you're still going to rub one another wrong from time to time. Be mature and deal with it. Separate the small $h!t from the serious stuff.

3) A sense of compromise; so that you can work out your problems with a minimum of emotional trauma. It's marital negotiation.

4) A sense of sympathy and forgiveness. You're both going to screw up on occasion. You need to be able to forgive, forget, and move on with the relationship.

One is always in love while the one that control the relationship careless, if both are good at team work than it will last cause they have each other back when one fall allot of times their is no communication between the two one is open while the other one is secretive and will not put their feeling on the table which causes problem. How can you be mad at person and keep it a secret if he/she is your love one.

Because its based on feelings, and romance. Once those elements have cooled down, then the couple will start thinking something is wrong and something is missing, and how come so and so is still madly in love and we are not...so they start to seek other relationships and the same thing happens again and again...

Its unrealistic expectations.....that gets us everytime.

Because people are rash when deciding to get married. Then they let their selfish desires take over. Lots of people are just plain bad at being a partner.
