I got these fish (3 of them) from a friend and they are abt 1 inch in length. They are freshwater, body is orange in color and their fins are transparent but yellowish. Their belly is silver and they have 2 prominent horizontal white stripes running across the body and even right up to their tails. There are also white stripes on their anal fins. Some of them are brighter in color and have longer fins. These fish are pretty active swimmers, and I guess my camera just couldn't catch up with them. Anyway, pls help bcos I wonder if they will go well with my neon tetras.

here's their pics, kinda blurry though, sorry.

Shocking! And my fren made it worst by saying he got it for 80cents each at a local fish store who had a tank-full of those. I've heard abt tainted fish but I didn't know they could go this far. Thanks for ur answers.

Yes they definately are painted/stained fish. The staining process does stress the fish out and they do have shorter life spans. The look like long finned Danios, and they are a community fish and should live happily with the tetras. If you look up Danios on the internet their markings and fins should look very similar.

They are NOT painted zebras. They are actually called Glo Fish. They are zebras with jelly fish DNA injected into them. They were originally developed to detect pollutants in the water. They also come in green and orange. Check out the website for more details.

I have a bunch and they are awesome! If you have a black light used it on them at night time! I wish I lived near you! I paid 5 bucks for each of mine.

Those are painted or stained Zeba Danios. They will be ok with your neons. Please avoid buying fish like those though as the color is added by dyeing them and it will shorten their lives as well as being cruel. Pass the word along to your friend
