Invasion of Iran is very near.US might have a ready plan. Some pulling out of troup from Iraq may be necessary. The attack will be to get control over Iran's oil resources and natural gas. With US being the only world power now ,no serious opposition is expected. But the difficult terrain and terrorist may inflict heavy casuality on US military. It may be a difficult war.Taliban terrorisam and nuclear proliferation may be two reason that will be quoted for invasion.
The repercussion will be reduction in supply of oil, increased prices.inflation in most of the part of the world and killing of thousands of innocents.
We cannot do much, except raising public opinion against war.

Danny K has hit most of the high points, although I think his estimates of $5 dollar a gallon gas will prove to be low.

In the long run, however, there may actually be some bright spots for our long term future... maybe.

1. This might finally be the straw that breaks Big Oil's back. Americans will finally realize how much the oil/auto/infrastructure really costs.

2. Once private car ownership becomes ludicrously expensive, people will have to move out of the suburbs and back into the cities again. This will put an end to the sprawl that is destroying so much farm and forest land.

3. There will finally be a monetary incentive to develop clean alternative energy. The oil companies will buy it up, of course, but at least it won't be carbon based.

4. No oil market means no Western interest in Southwest Asia. We'll finally pull out our troops, close our bases, and stop supporting despotic governments like Saudi Arabia and Egypt.

5. No interest in Southwest Asia may mean, and this is a big "may", that finally the US can get out from under the israeli albatross once and for all. There are more than enough jewish millionaires and billionaires in the world. Let them prop up the corrupt colony.

An ever extra extreme hatred of this u . s . in that area of the international. i replaced into no fan of Saddam Huessin, yet via taking him out we surrendered the middle-east to Iran. Saddam's Iraq replaced into the potential block to Iran. without that potential block the U. S. has to circulate it on my own It would not count that 70 senators gave the president a no confiendce vote in his working of the conflict. reason, maximum folk of those senators willingly went alongside with this president the 1st time. You cant tell the fathers and mothers of our provider human beings in Iraq and Afghanstian (i understand I spelled incorrect, snort in case you're able to.) which you as representive and the president made a mistake. Iran needs a practice down with us. If we are going to make the 1st strike it must be on the gasoline pump. yet another words, apart from paintings and homestead not extra journeys to the mall. No procuring suvs, or traveling 3 hundred miles decrease backward and forward. each and every time we purchase gasoline on the pump we are making an investment in terrorism. we could locate replace components for gasoline and wreck the economic equipment of terror.

I will offer my humble home to any Iranians that would like to flee the mad mullers of Teheran. Pray that the atomic cloud will head towards Mecca and hope that future terrorists will not collect the contaminated mess thats left and jiffy bag post it to the great satan wherever they think he is. And feel safe in the knowledge that any retaliatory nuclear strikes by Pakistan are shot down before they hit Europe, or any that get through end up in the Atlantic ocean before hitting the USA?

Pray.

It could very well lead to World War 3. The Russians are backing the Iranians and they aren't going to sit casually by while we bomb them. Iran also has an alliance with China and I can't see them not getting involved as well. So this could easily lead to World War 3.
Of course the first strike could actually come from the Israel. The Iranians have already stated that they WILL destroy Israel. The Israelies probably aren't going to sit back and wait for them to try. So they could launch and air strike against the Iranians to destroy their nuke facilities. They did this against Iraq back in the early 80s (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Opera).

I think it will cause a lot of hate for America around the world, and also a lot of opposition from within the country as well. It will reinforce a lot of peoples already negative opinions about America.

The answer to the first point is that all hell will break loose through the action of two megalomaniacs.
On the second point, all who read this.
REMEMBER IF YOU CONTINUE TO VOTE CONSERVATIVE, NEW LABOUR OF LIBERAL DEMOCRAT you will only continue to experience a policy of deception, lies and war which have plagued us for decades.
Break with tradition and vote for an alternative party of YOUR CHOICE not theirs.
Don't believe those who say you are wasting your vote that is how they continue to maintain their power.
