Are clothes art?

The Versace of this world would certainly tell you they are. Art to wear ... to give to the world your spin on who you are ... and various other fluffy words in order to justify the cost.

They can be. If you've ever seen a high quality fashion show live, it is very impressive and gives me goosebumps. The haute-couture shows are certainly art as they are never meant to be for everyday wear but are as creatively designed as any work of art. In day to day fashion, some people use their bodies as a canvas and go out of their way to create themselves everyday which can be very impressive when doe right. I don't have time for that though. While I can fully appreciate it on others, clothes are usually just to cover my jiggly bits in public!!

Yes... anything thats been made is art..

Clothes come under the art category more so when they are hand made and have an individual technique labeled to them, i.e A hand panted pattern.. Individuality is the key to art and many techniques batched into one item..

Certainly, it's how one can express theirself. This includes hair, makeup, you know, overall style. That's what makes us individual.

Usually people who have a great style are more creative than those who don't...and creativity is the key to art. Think about it: how we pick out our clothes is by imagining it usually; another key, imagination & visualizing......all art. : )

yes,I would say clothes are definitely art,as they express who we are and also express individuality.

clothes should b
functional, easy 2 care 4 & serve the purpose they were designed 2 do.
but designers probably think so.

if you wear black trousers and white shirt - it is not, but if you are trying more drastic clothes combinations - it definitely is
