What should I wear with city shorts and black leather stilettos?

Question

Am going out for my Birthday on Saturday and have decided on wearing some short black city shorts and black matte leather stilletos - but what sort of tops are in fashion?? Haven't been out in ages so not sure what the latest fashion is! Can't afford a fortune and would appreciate links! I'm 27 by the way...

What you are describing sounds rather garish to me...rather like something a street walker would wear....so tubetop?

In response to your additional info: My intention wasn't to make you feel bad about your choice of clothing. But since you "haven't been out in ages," it isn't a far stretch to assume you don't know what others may think of you if you wear shorts and stilettos together. I'm sorry...but people will think unflattering things about you. It's just a fact. Would you rather people lie to you and say, "OH! that looks fabulous on you and you look like a paragon of virtue in it," when in fact it doesn't and you don't?!

I've always told the truth when someone asks me how they look in something. I would rather be told the truth than a lie and be spared making a fool of myself in public. In my opinion, it's akin to telling someone they have spinach on their teeth. I do to others as I would have them do to me. That's why I wrote what I did. But in all seriousness, the halter top IS what I would recommend wearing with the shorts and stilettos. I've seen girls/women in these very outfits. The fishnet stockings are also a common feature of the get-up. I'm sorry if my suggestion offended you.

At any rate, I wish you a happy birthday. I hope you have a good time, regardless of what you wear.

If you're wishing to send a message to everyone that you're on the prowl and easy, then by all means wear the shorts and stilettos. Don't forget the fishnet stockings. A sequined halter top would go well with the ensemble.

Isn't it a bit cold to be wearing shorts? How about wearing jeans instead? Those are always in style.
