QA can come in many forms, but these are some pretty typical general examples. QA position has alot to do with honesty and accuracy in the job. When a Standard Operating Procedure is written, it is gospel - diverging from it would ruin the reputation of the company.

Especially small companies want to diverge from the norm when things aren't working out and they feel they have the flexibility to do so. Preventing team members not to diverge is the most important aspect of the position.
