I am pretty conservative and besides the fact that the movie came out during the 80's, I see nothing anti-war or anti-troop about it. A good portion of it is about basic training. If anything it is depressing and is more of a commentary on how fragile the human psyche can be and how far individuals can be pushed. You will not see any drill sergeants like that anymore, such behavior is frowned upon now. Besides being depressing the movie is also quite funny. The one-liners from the drill instructor are oft-quoted classics as is much of the dialogue between the soldiers. The primary focus of the Vietnam portion of the movie was on the pursuit of the sniper, there was little if any commentary on the nature of the war itself or even war in general. As a final point, the extremely conservative military people that I know who saw the movie, absolutely loved it. Is the person who posted the question serious?

You probably watch Sponge bob Squarepants and see some sort of liberal propaganda and are APPALLED by it...
Stanley Kubrick's "Full Metal Jacket" was made prior to 1987 - before Bush Senior was even President. Regan was President at the time skippy.
Not too mention the movie is a 2 part story set during the VIETNAM WAR - a war that was going on when W. Bush was dodging the draft and sniffing coke in Texas.
And in relation to Vietnam it is not considered anti-troop by those who served in that war - like my father. MOST Vietnam era movies are to some extent anti-war because most will tell you that it was a futile occupation that did nothing in the end but cost the lives of over 50,000 American soldiers. Most of the movies do a great job of showing the REALITY of Vietnam, which probably made you queasy and caused you to scream PROPAGANDA.
So, get your facts straight before you come into the game with your weak attempts to stir up trouble between "libs" and "cons".
Good day sir and have a nice day at school.

Anti war? Yes Anti-troop? no Anti-Bush, I don't see how it could have been.
Ya see, Full Metal Jacket was made in 1987. That would have been after GWB was exhonorated in in an SEC investigation of insider trading in the oil industry (it was concluded that he didn't know enough about his own business to have engaged in insider trading) and his stint as part owner and managing general partner of the Texas Rangers (where he presided over the trade of some hack player, Sammy Sosa).
So unless the mentioned movie was about a failed oil company, or a bonehead managing partner on a basebal team, it can't be considered anti-bush, unless you are applying the "if the shoe fits" principle.
And just because *you* just saw it, doesn't mean they just made it.

Bolt, I comprehend what you're conserving, problem is those who're adverse to the warfare do not. they imagine that if we pull out each thing will pass decrease back to the way it became. Then if a civil warfare erputs in Iraq they're going to blame Bush (no longer congress, the democrats, or liberals who wanted out). Its a win/win subject for them, yet they don't comprehend that this gained't provide up the terrorists who hate our guts and decide us useless. they're going to proceed to evangelise anti-US propoganda, like they did earlier Bush grew to develop into president, like they did below Clinton. i became not at all for the warfare in Iraq, the in effortless words individual in my artwork position on the time who idea the info by the intelligence communities became susceptible. notwithstanding now that we are there, we favor to stay until eventually the job is performed and help our troops over there. I salute the squaddies over there and want you all go back appropriately at the same time as the job is performed. That way you gained't ought to wrestle yet another warfare because we pulled out too early.

you just saw it? It came out 20 years ago!
It's not anti Bush but it has a truth about war angle. If the reality of war is liberal to you then you have no business advocating war. War is bloody, violent and doesn't discriminate about who it kills or how horrible that death is. This is why I'm against it. welcome to a taste of reality.
