Get yourself a hair dryer and a turkey baster. Remove the back panel of your freezer and use the hair dryer to melt the ice berg you are going to find back there. Get a big pot of water heating on the stove, don't get it to a boil but get it very hot (160 -170 F). Find the drain hole at the back and keep pumping hot water in the drain with the turkey baster, water is going to come back up at first, so have a sponge or towel to soak up the back flush. Keep doing this until you have melted the frozen plug you have in the drain. Often you will hear the water suddenly flush down to the drain pan under the fridge. I f you don't hear it you will notice that water quits coming back up out of the drain. When this happens pour a little bleach down the drain, a couple of ounces is plenty. Put the back panel back in place and Bobs your uncle.

It probably would be best that you just clean all your freezer out with your food and cut it off to let it completely defrost, give it a good cleaning and start it back up again, if it works OK then make sure you don't over stuff your freezer section this time and clog the air vents.

It sounds as if it is time to defrost the freezer. All the cooling coils are in the freezer area and then the cold air decends into the fridge thru vents. If the vents are clogged with ice then the cold air cant get to the fridge. Also while defrosting it, clean the coils. If they arent on the back of the fridge, then they are under it.

If this is a recent occurrence with your present frig. than it might need repair. Or it might have a separate regulator that is out of adjustment. The fact that your freezer works says that the unit is working. If it has a separate regulator for the frig. you might try turning it back and forth a few times because the points may be stuck.

Was it ever transported or laid on it's side? That can mess up the refrigerator. If it was on it's side for an hour, unplug it for two hours, then plug it back in. The general rule is for every hour it was on it's side or laying flat, you need to unplug it while upright for two hours. That should do it - but only if you know it was on it's side and how long.
