huh? you're just supposed to pick a random number, or are you trying to solve for a variable?

please post clarification

OR, you could assume a value of 3 and put:
a = 1
b = 2

the plus sign in between gives it almost an infinite amount of solutions;

the simplest of which is b=0 a= assumed value. or vice versa;
b=1 a= (assumed value -1) is also another solution;
you may need to reword your question inorder to make this a real problem.
