The reason they say soap should not be used on the face is the chemical used in bar soaps that helps it stay solid dries the skin out badly. There are other reasons people give but this is a big one.

Soap can over-dry your face and it does not contain the same elements as a facial wash/scrub. Those elements are to cleanse pours by removing dirt and oil build up while maintaining a clean, more natural moisture.

Also, some facial washes have acne medication or some type of ingredient to enhance your appearnace; soap tends to be a bit dull.

I must add, facial wash especially facial scrubs feel a whole lot better...so refreshing.

Its always better to use a gentle cleanser that does not contain any soap so it won't alter the pH balance of your skin and dry it out like soap tends to do. If you must, use Dove or Johnsons soap as they won't dry your skin out as much, all other soaps may be used on your hands without harm.

Who told you not to use soap? Soap is an excellent cleaner, it removes dirt, grease, grime, bacteria, etc.....
As long as you rinse your face well and use a mild soap, there's no reason not to use it.
