you can here the monitor trying to switch itself on and the light goes green then i get a massage no single input or cable disconnected and then it goes off again like into standby mode, but in the past i got this the same massage on the screen but the monitor always stayed on, its a 8 year old windows 98 computer help please

It could be a loose video cable, a bad graphics card, or a bad monitor. Test the monitor on another computer if possible, disconnect and reconnect the video cable to the graphics card making sure the screws are hand tightened after the reconnect, if neither work then it is more then likely your video card that is going out.

Make sure the cable that plugs into the computer that comes from the monitor is connected. If it is, you have a bad video card. I'd bet $ on it

first check the signal cable connected to cpu and the cpu is ON. even if the display doesn't comes it may the problem with CPU. - itz giving no out put.
