I've only had him for just over a week. At least oncea day he has been going crazy flapping his wings squaking and darting back and fowards in his cage. He's been flipping his head about up and down really fast.It only lasts for a couple of minutes. It's like he's scared of something but I can't see anything that could spook him. After he does this he seems a bit edgy and doesn't respond to me like he does any other time of the day. Is it normal and is there anything that i can do?

Is he doing this at a certain time of day? Or perhaps he's hearing Lorikeets outside and responding to them? That is if you live in a Lorikeet area? Lories are turbo birds, a bit psycho at the best of times. It's possible he's just being silly. My lories tend to go nuts morning and evening, or if they hear wild birds. Or somethings just because they can.

Lories are crazy and often gets spooked by things we don't even notice. One of mine is 19 and still scared of the vacuum cleaner's hose. Try to see if there's a truck going by or something passing through the bird's environment that could be freaking it out.
Make sure the bird has a large cage (they need lots of room) and both hanging and "foot" toys (mine like those little plastic balls with bells in them that are sold for cats).
I assume you've taken the bird to an avian vet (not a cat/dog vet) and had it checked out to make sure it's healthy....?
