I have these in a catfish tank and love 'em! They really do help keep the tank look better. I've never kept them in anything less than 70o, because they don't seem to do that well in colder water. (Given the name "Malaysian" I think they'd prefer tropical temps) They do reproduce rather quickly in my tropical tanks! Before long, ten will become hundreds - I'd expect the reproduction rate will also lower with cooler temps, though.

You'll hardly ever see them in the tank - they're active nocturnally and spend the day hiding in the gravel. Just don't use in a tank with loaches or puffers (the fish will eat them) or in a spawning tank (they eat fish eggs). I've heard they will also eat other snail eggs, so may keep other snail species under control, but I haven't experienced this myself.

Nice thing about these is they won't eat your live plants - they prefer what they can find in the gravel.
