Well, if you ask about a particular topic you are not far short of asking us to do the essay for you. You have had the wits, unlike many questionners on this site, not to do that. So how do you become good enough to do history for yourself?
You need to develop skills to identify the necessary material. This means reading diffferent books, and interpreting how the facts in them relate to the question you want to answer. These days it means knowing how to search the internet and identify which sites have accurate information - plenty don't! As you get further into information you will have to look up basic sources such as documents, old newspapers and books (end films etc. for recent history) produced at the time. You will need to organise in your mind the mass of material you get. Then, not least, you have to be able to write well to show interpret your material - simply regurgitating facts is not history - and get your message over to the reader (even if this is only a teacher or lecturer).
When you write your essay, it is important to show how the facts and views you give derive from existing work or your own research. You need to quote your sources whilst maintaining your good writing style (which is easier said than done!). N.B. at any level of history, ANSWER THE QUESTION - don't just list facts.
There have been a number of books by famous historians on how to be good at history, short and pitched at student level. Two such books, both of which are by very well-known historians and which have sold in large numbers for many years, are:-
E. H. Carr "What is History?"
G. R. Elton "The Practice of History" .
They are both quite short and I recommend you read them. You need to read both because Geoffrey Elton, the famous Tudor Historian (read "England under the Tudors") and E. H. Carr, who wrote a famous history of the early years of the Soviet Union, have radically different views as to how historians should work.
Finally, doing good history is hard work, and takes a lot of painful practice, but it is very rewarding when you have mastered the subject. Good luck!

Show us a sample of your essay so we can critique it for you.
If you are not creating a topic, then I'm assuming you want us to write the essay for you.
Don't take it personal, but that would be plagiarism.
plagiarism ~ noun.
(1. the unauthorized use or close imitation of the language and "thoughts of another author and the representation of them as one's own original work."

Yep - you have to show us the essay first. Getting other people to write your essay for school / uni - a big no no. Imagine if one of the people here was your lecturer?
