Computer Technology progresses at an alarming rate. Do you think your Comp should be in a museum because of it

I only built mine a year and a half ago and I'm so far behind I feel like it's a Tandy!

Feel olde, do you? I have a disk in my closet. Just the disk. It is about 18 inches across. Capacity an amazing 2.5 MB. When I did my master's dissertation, the disk drive on the computer I used had a drip pan under it because the head positioners were hydraulic. (CDC 6600). First computer I programmed had tubes (Bendix G-15) and was used to dry wet tennis shoes. Now ORAL-B says they have a toothbrush with a computer inside. Yeah, we are moving fast. Ain't it fun?

I think it depends on how you built you computer... if you spent a lot of cash you get to rip the benefits... At the moment I use a PC I built lasy year and I have spent quite a lot of cash on it and I still
use the PC at small gaming events.

It still performs. I use it as the main computer for internet connection. It still out performs some new computers which a lot of time and money wasn't spent on them...

I think if you spent enough cash and choose the best investment components for your computer it will not become a classic soon enough..

or an antique for that matter...

My computer still runs the latest software and games and it is even Vista compatible...

I don't use it, but I am not afaid to show it off..

Feels like that for me too... mine its 2 years. If my computer should be in a museum because of progress I'd agree! I still got a compaq 15" color monitor lying around. And its 5 years old! =)

I agree with you. I feel same way too.

But is there a solution for it?

You are better than me as you can build your computer (now you can rebuild it for today). I have paid so much money to HP and Dell ... they will not rebuild my computer.
