There's little chance Jake Gyllenhaal, Tom Cruise, Tom Hanks, Jim Carrey, Ewan McGregor, Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Jack Nicholson, Steven Spielberg, Harrison Ford, Kelsey Grammar, Robert De Niro, George Lucas, Nicholas Cage, Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom, Jude Law, and many other actors will be pregnant soon!

Most people are careful about announcing pregnancy during the first trimester, because that is when miscarriages usually happen. Imaging how much worse having a miscarriage would be if you had a million telephoto lenses focused where they have no business to be.
And, as a husband of someone who had a couple of miscarriages, I can assure you that a private miscarriage is a pretty devastating event. A public one is unimaginable.

once a celebrity releases news, such as pregnancies or engagements, marriages, etc. it becomes a media feeding frenzy. People are way too absorbed in celebrity lives and the media is only to willing to supply the dirt. How many celebrity marriages have fallen apart because of the media/tabloids ? When a woman is pregnant, for the first few months, she is very nervous about losing the baby, and I know from personally having three miscarriages, I really wouldn't want some idiot in my face asking me "how I feel" about losing my unborn child. They try to keep as much of their life as private as they can, until there is no turning back..ie..a HUGE belly.

To avoid excess publicity. They probably want to have quiet and meaningful pregnancies like any other woman, preferable without being hogged by paparazzo every minute of their life. In Naomi Watts' case- maybe she was saving the publicity for when she needed it :p

Why? They might want to keep it private you know. They don't like all the media getting in their faces. They don't want their babies becoming involved in the media. There's alot more too. They have a right to deny anything just to keep the media from finding out.

cause its there business and they don't want everyone bugging them. and then, when the baby's born, everyone wants a photo. the paparazzi are always following them and being pregnant would be another reason to follow them.
