Why do you need to meet their expectations? As long as you have tried yor best, no one can fault you. They should also be understanding.

first of all, make it clear to everyone in your family that expectations are to be taken on their own risk and that you are going to try your best.
inspite all ur efforts if you fail to get into the honor's list, tell them and understand urself first, this is not the end of the world. there is still so much left so much life left in you nd so much more to do for the world and for ur family!! Studies are iportant no doubt but they arent the only thing!!
make them understand that u'll do ur best in watever field u take. and there are sooo many honor's lists out there!! Go ahead...

just tell them that you really do your best to be in the honor list
is just that your classmates also did their best to get you out
on the honor list......
hehehehe........
or better yet study hard for you to able be in the honor list
so that you didn't failed the expectation of your parents!
