Fouth of July is the big one, lots of fun things to do in larger cities and towns. Memorial day, of course, and Labour day. Those are much more low key.

If I were planning a holiday in the USA I would look into visiting some of the old colonies from Virginia up to Boston, maybe south to the Carolinas.
The Grand canyon's weather is mild in summer, and let's see. Anywhere in the Pacific North West is beautiful.
