I think it does depend on the perspective, some people will say a happy life, an active life, or a successful life or a religious life.

I believe that the best life is one lived from the heart, with purpose and with the intent to love others and treat them as you would like to be treated.

You may touch the lives of millions, like Martin Luther King or Gandhi or Mother Teresa, or you may just touch a few, like my uncle, a gifted artist who always had a smile, a hug, a kind word and wisdom to share. He was somewhere between an Atheist and an Agnostic. He was a heavy drinker and smoker. But he knew how to listen. He made people laugh and feel good. He never put anyone down. He loved everyone and everyone loved him. He died of cancer at 60. He lived a good life.

My grandfather lived to be 94. He worked hard, was successful, went to Church, never drank, never smoked, did a lot of travelling, but never really did much of anything to help anyone. He was a very predjudiced person in many ways and always had to be right - he was very negative. I don't think he was happy. He held on for a year laying in his death bed not wanting to let go. I think it was because of regret.

I think when people say that they mean they are financially well off. What they really don't know is having money doesn't necessarily mean living the good life. So, you are right it depends on the person's perspective.

Why do most people think/believe that Christians can't have a 'good life' because of limited doctrines rules...to me, there are no set rules. We are given guidelines and our free-will lets us go our way to choose our way of life. I am a Christian and I have had the so called GOOD LIFE> money was no obstacle, drinks galore, fun times unimaginable- the Good Life? No, thank you, liars, cheats, alcoholism, party party party it all came first and our good life set aside waiting for us. I chose the good life but in a different text. I am not hurting anyone, I do my best to follow the straight and narrow, I remember what I did yesterday etc. The Good Life for some is not the Good Life for someone else.

I believe it totally depends on perspective.

One person may say "he lived a good life" about someone they knew who, while not wealthy, had a wonderful family, helped others, was loved and respected and showed love and respect to others. Not a lot of money, but a lot of quality relationships.

The next person might say "he lived a good life" referring to a drug dealer who made a lot of money, drove a Cadillac and wore the coolest clothes. Not a lot of moral conviction (in my opinion it is immoral to make a living by supplying such an evil thing as drugs - I have a drug addicted relative and would like to choke who ever gave her the first 'taste' of it), but lots of money.

Totally depends on what the speaker values as a "good life".

Most of the people consider a good life is to have a good car, house, family and job. But this doesn't mean that every one agrees with that.

it most definitely depends on every ones perspective!
same things could be the world to someone and be not significant to others!
it all depends on how you perceive things, the simpler you are the happier your life will be... and i would say that someone is leading a good life is i see him happy most of the time...

Christians don't believe in a good life, b/c there's 1 way to live a good life, and every other way misses.
We live the latter

From my perspective, a good life is a happy life. Life can't be considered good if it can't bring smile on your face.

It means he did a minimum of harm and a maximum of good. But some say it can also mean you did a lot of things. But to me a good person is one who causes as little harm, damage and pain as possible, to the environment, to fellow man to other creatures.

Someone is living a good life when someone is living by reason-which is the highest good for men.
Reason goes beyond appetites, desires and will.
If one lives by reason, he is living a satisfied life.
