I've looked around for a simple take on the unmarried woman with a illigetimate child, and can't find anything. Can anyone give me an answer?

Actually, the reason I asked this was because a preacher told a woman I know that her son would go to hell for being born a bastard. I wanted to know if there were any verses or such that could counter this statement?

It says somewhere in the bible that a son is not responsible for the sins of his father. I think that pastor is a moron who may have his nose buried in the old testament, and he forgot all about Jesus and the law of love. Children are born innocent, and thats all there is to it.

Oh my goodness. The baby hasn't personally committed any sins just by being born. The Bible speaks of repentance and this is in reference to those of decision making age and be baptized for the forgiveness of one's sins. An unmarried woman could have children due to the death of a spouse or adoption neither of which is sin. Now the sin of sexual immorality, sex outisde of marriage is spoken about throughout the Bible. Sex in the Bible is intended for marriage, thus children when born are born with a marriage.

Good news about sex and marriage, by Christopher West

" ... God is always looking for "excuses" to bless us and show us his love, even (believe it or not) when we act outside his plan. Still, although a great blessing (child) has come from it, the manner of conception remains an injustice to her. Honesty, and the good of all concererned, calls for that recognition.

... some friends I know have a ten-year -old son. They love him very, very much and, like you, couldn't imagine life without him. They know he's a blessing from God in their lives. But they've been married less than ten years themselves. He was concdeived out of wedlock.

What they did - having sex outside of marriage - was wrong, seriously wrong. To pretend otherwise would be an additional injustice to all involved, especially their son. They know someday he'll do the math, and they'll all talk about it. He'll probably have some issues to work through, but the situation isn't beyond the scope of God's redeeming love. Nothing is, except the pride that refuses to admit when we've been wrong."

The Bible says that whosoever will to the Lord my come. That preacher lied.

There is not much in the bible about women unmarried with children. For the most part a man was to leave his mother and cleave to his wife.

That young man if he chooses to follow the Lord he will not go to hell.

Don t forget the woman at the well who was ask where her husband was and replied she had no husband, Jesus replied "you have many". {She was a prostitute, unmarried) yet was ask where her husband was. The act of sexual relation made her married (God s law), otherwise she would not have been ask, it s not like Jesus didn t know. So if the act of sex made her married then the child is not born out of wedlock and has committed no sin.

Ask the learned clergyman of the children of Abraham and Sarah or Prior to a legitimate son, Abram and Sari. Also about Lot and his Daughters and the story of Guessable or what is a concubine or who fathered Jesus prior to Mary's consummating her marriage to Joseph. What of Solomon and the two women.

The authors of the bible lived in a ancient agrarian civilisation where public stonings served as public entertainment in the absence of television. Pretty perverse stuff.

The bible speaks about fornicating, the sin is not the child but the act of sex.

God loves children and would never deem them as illegitimate
