it's a really tough business. poetry is very hard to make money from unless you are a rapper. there are a lot of people writing songs out there, so it may be worth taking a class to perfect your skills before you go out in search of the infamous dollar. look into as many avenues as you can, but it does pay to know somebody who knows somebody.
