I am taking my two grandchildren on holiday abroad for the first time alone.
I need somewhere thats suitable for the children aged 6 and 8 years, a short flight from UK and not too rowdy.
We're going in Late August for 2 weeks.
Should I be looking at SC or a hotel? The Budget is flexible- I don't want cheap and cheerful, but I am looking for value for money.
Does anyone have any ideas?

Hi there- good on you for taking your grandchildren away on holiday.
Disney Paris would be great but too expensive for 2 weeks- maybe another time for no more than 4 nights.

The Theme park idea is a good one thugh- it will keep the kids occupied and is a great change from the pool or the beach.

I'd suggest La Pineda on The Costa Dorada for Port Aventura (now called Universal Mediterannea)
A hotel will def be better than sc- you might still be able to get free child places if you are quick- also check flts and accom seperateley.
Check out The Pineda Palas it's a moderate 3 star hotel and should be reasonable or The Hacienda Grand is a rasonable 4 star. LaPineda will be less rowdy than Salou.

If you do have a little more t spare then if I were you I'd treat myself and try staying t one of the Universal Mediterranea Hotels. The Port Aventura, El Paso or Caribe are all excellentand will giv you unlimited access to the park and waterpark for the full duration of your stay. Check out their website here...

It is going to be a littl more expensive, but I would highly reccomend it.

Have a great time!

Plenty of options, the Canary Islands are about 3.5 hours away.

Tenerife-- Los cristianos
Lanzarote-- Costa Teguise
Gran canaria--- Peurto rico

Might be an option to book a package holiday with a kids club and entertainment. For a shorter flight also check out Cala D'or in Majorca or most places in menorca.

Barcelona - the streets of Barcelona are alive by day or night, providing the visitor with a safe place for strolling around, whether for shopping, eating or simply passing the time of day. There is also 1 mile long city beach with clean soft sand, ideal for sun bathing. See http://www.spain4uk.co.uk/places/barcelona.htm for more details
