It was soooo funny!!
I watched a show last year I think, Comedy Connections and they said that it got increasingly difficult to do another series of it after Stephen Tomkinson and Neil Peirson's careers took off in the mid '90's with Ballykissangel and Between the Lines(scheduling....money etc....) which is a shame (although Trevors World of Sport is well funny too) and I always thought Tomkinson/Peirson were far better in comedy than drama. (Wild at Heart....pah! Amanda Holden needs a slap!!).
There's been little on since that has been so widely satirical and topical about all news, not just politics. Would love to see it again!! Never missed it!
What was your fave episode?? One of mine was the one where George was kicking himself to complete the last clue in a Times crossword which he had never failed to do and walked around the newsroom the whole episode shouting "Gegs!!" but wouldn't let people tell him. Then at the end some little courier boy turned to him innocently before walking out "It's scrambled eggs"....then George ran after him furious!
USELESS TRIVIA ALERT;
(Incidentally did you know that the guy who played George is the older brother of the guy who played Richard, Hyancinth Bucket's husband in Keeping up Appearances?)......

Yes I loved this prog, you had to watch the news a day or so before its airing as it was bang up to date with current affairs. Never been another tv prog like it, v unique. I found Joy and George the funniest!

dave and his gambling
damien day the reporter always going into dangerous situations
joy the obnoxious but witty office girl
and george the paranoid boss..
excellent and at the time rare as it was topical with the show being filmed close to airing and using current events
