As far as technique is concerned then it must be rakhul dravid, he has a sound defense compared to steve.
But, if you are talking about lifetime achievement award then I would suggest steve waugh tha dravid because of the overall contribution to the game.

According to me both Steve waugh and Rahul dravid but Rahul dravid is better because he has more potentials then Steve waugh. He can single handedly win matches for India. He can play slow and can even play quick. He had once made 50 runs out of 22 balls. It is an example that he can play quickly. East or west Rahul Dravid is the best

Every cricketer has his own specialities. In case of Steve Waugh, he is a excellent captain. He was capable to change the match result even at the last minute. He was so cool and calm that no disputes surrounded him. He gives the necessary spirit needed by the team members to win the match. In case of Rahul Dravid. It is not an exaggeration that whole world praised him as "Mister Dependable" and "Wall of India". No doubt, he is a excellent batsman. He is a calm batsman who plays stable even though all his team members all are becoming out. He is capable to change the match with single hand. And he is multi-talented. He can do jobs like captaincy, wicket keeper, fielder, batsman perfectly. So it is difficult to decide who is best. But I would vote for Steve Waugh for his excellency in captaincy. That doesn't means Rahul Dravid is not fit. Everyone has his own greatness.

That's a tough question but, however, a very good one. I can lean either way depending on their latest performance. Rahul's skills are often times not given the proper recognition because he appears effortless at times because of his tremendous athletic abilities that just flow naturally onto the field of play. His reserved demeanor is often times misinterpreted as being nonchalant and almost passive in a sport where aggressive play usually dominates. Yet, Rahul almost always makes the big plays and produces for his team at just the right time. Rahul is truly a great athlete and I give him a slight advantage, not by much though, over Steve.
Steve, on the other hand, plays a more outwardly aggressive game and just sets the momentum that most often results in victories for his team. At times, however, Steve can be overbearing such as the time he took a swing at a teammate who he felt was not applying himself. But his teammate swung back and a melee resulted on the field with players, fans, officials, all joining in and swinging on each other. As a result, Steve missed a couple of matches while recuperating from a sprained ankle and separated shoulder sustained by his swinging excessively on anyone he could get his hands on during the massive brawl. Steve is quite talented and will get better as he matures and learns how to take control of himself and minimize the swinging on the field.

The question if a bit confusing, you mean cricketer or batsman. Steve was never known as batsman, he was a good all rounder. Dravid is far more better batsman than Steave. But my dear friend, as a cricketer, Steve is mile ahead of drawid.
