If you like to see what the beaches look like from above, the site below has some great photos of the beaches around Australia.
In there search section type in Beaches then the name of the state or the name of the Beach. If you want to see a larger picture click on the photo

Cooee Jesica S! I can tell you this - Australia, like every other island on the earth has seas to die for! Don't listen to the grasshopp - he must be one of those unadventurous types that doesn't actually GO to the sea! The whole coast of Australia is as diverse as you could want a sea to be. Goes from pebbly, not-so-lieable-on coast to melt your bones and let's not move from here type sand. Depends on where you wish to go. If you stay away from the grasshopp's versions you will find some of the finest - if not the best - ocean seas in the world. Don't know if you are a surfer (though, if you are you probably already know), there are some rough spots - just like any other person's island! But, from east to west you would not get any better (or cleaner) seas to swim in. I live here and having said that I'm not too keen on S.A.'s beaches - big white sharks have a way of turning me off (know wot I mean?). So, you asked for beauty? Mate, take some of the most amazing, incredibly beautiful drives of your life to see some of the most amazing, incredibly beautiful oceanic views of your life. My favourites are: The Great Ocean Road (Victoria); Cairns to Port Douglas; a few people will be upset at the minute because in-between them you have some of the best (even Californians love them) in NSW,. Got to admit one of my favourites is Minnie Waters and about 100 nautical miles either way. Then you've got all the west coast - and ultimately that's the best of all just because it's so vast and so different. Probably because it's the Indian Ocean (you know? don't want to upset too many people - took me ages to find the sun going from one side to the other). Top north is all a bit different - oceans are still beautiful, but when they're full of stingers and crocs and such like - looking is one thing but when it's hot, hitting the water is another. And let's not forget good ol Tassie. Tasmania has some of the best beaches in the world! Go from late spring to late summer and do anywhere. Pristine is one word that comes to mind for some of their beaches. You feel like you are the only person that has ever set foot there. I know: I sound like an Austraphobe! But, mate, I've been all over the shop (and just recently to Indonesia - which by the way has some of the best reefs you'll EVER see) and when I come back to the big place with five oceans knocking forever on the shores - there is no "better" beach - just the next one!

In Australia you can get whatever beach experience you would like. Yes, there are crowded beaches and tourist traps but without a lot of effort you can find nearly empty, beautiful beaches all over the country.
For beautiful scenery I love the beaches along the Great Ocean Road. I love Apollo Bay!
I also love the beach at a place 10 minutes north of Cairns called Yorkies Knob. I spent $55 a night at a hotel on the beach and basically had the beach to my self for 13 days!
Bondi Beach was to much of a tourist trap and the beach was to crowded for me to enjoy.
Have a great trip!

Grass Hopp's answer should at least been taken seriously to the point of supplying your own shade, aerogard, beach towels etc. Although, as soon as those simple and preventable problems are solved, you'll be able to kick back under an umbrella, rub sunscreen in your partners back, go for a swim or surf and enjoy the atmosphere of popular beaches.
Oh....about syringes, popular beaches, for example Bondi and less populated ones like Port Fairy (Vic) have machinery that go over them early in the mornings to sift out such things.

Coogee beach is lovely, and the walk along to Bondi is great - visiting all the coves along the way. However, the BEST beach we found in Oz was Mission beach just south of Cairns - fabulous! Went for lunch and stayed 3 days (wish it could have been longer)

Australian beaches have sand, seaweed and syringes, the waters lapping the sand contain stingrays, jellyfish, and sharks!!
The sun makes the sand very hot, and as there is no shade, you must bring your own, and sunscreen lotion, also drinks, chairs, towels, a book or magazine on beaches elsewhere. Oh. and dont forget where the car is parked, or how long you are allowed to park there!!
A better place to spend a holiday is home..Its quiet, everyone else is at the beach, with the crowds, the flies and the sand, which gets into every crevice you have, not to mention the salt water that dries you out, and makes your sunburn sorer.
Does that help? I hope so.

Australia has more than 20,000km of coastline with at least one beach for every kilometre. Most of the beaches are clean and deserted. Take your pick.

Boxing Day is the twenty 6th of December, the day after Christmas Day. it fairly is a Public trip (paid day without work) for many Aussie workers. there is no occasion in the faculties. The long summer time college trip journeys (trip) initiate early to mid December and end late January/early February. To maximum persons Boxing Day is a wind down day after Christmas. traditionally many human beings watch the 1st day of the Boxing Day try tournament (cricket). it incredibly is performed on the Melbourne Cricket floor popular because of the fact the MCG. They the two attend the tournament in the event that they're in Melbourne or watch it on television. in the Capital cities and another cities there additionally are the Boxing Day sales in the shops. great fee reductions! For some those it fairly is a nicely-known difficulty to do. there is no strict rule as to how Aussies rejoice Boxing Day. it fairly is an afternoon to do what you experience like doing. many human beings are on trip journeys (trip) and so as that they are already on the coastline etc. individually, I basically prefer to spend a quiet day chilling out, actually. because of the fact it fairly is mid-summer time and many times very heat. so some distance as I endure in recommendations, in history of the call Boxing Day comes from the day after Christmas whilst the Lord of the Manor presented his assets and farm workers etc with boxed presents of nutrition, textile for making into outfits and different smart products. there is yet another tale that - Christmas Day replaced into the non secular day for being in church and Boxing Day replaced into the day for present giving.
