i have 5 systems in lan how can i shutdown or restart a system from another system
i know it works with remote access
is there any other way

Here is the one no one seems to know.
Right click on My Computer -> Manage -> Action -> Connect to another computer
Type in the remote computer's name and then OK.
Log in if need be.
Action -> Properties -> Advanced -> Under Startup and Recovery -> Settings -> Shutdown
Lots of nice choices on how to shutdown or reboot the machine.

BTW folks do you really think he would be asking such a question like this if this was a Unix/Linux machine? For them it is easy.
Either:
rsh -l root REMOTE_MACHINE shutdown
or
ssh -l root REMOTE_MACHINE shutdown

Depending on what is turned on.

On UNIX style systems: ssetup remote access is the only way.

On Windows NT style systems: buy MS Press Resource Kit, the rootkit tools are there inside.

Other than actually programming your way in this.

For Windows 2000 Network you can use Shutdown command.
