I haven't heard from any credible source that he's a Scientologist.... though he DID co-star in Battlefield Earth (a sci-fi book written by the "prophet" of Scientology, L. Ron Hubbard) with John Travolta (a Scientologist).

In this article (near the bottom), he says that he's not a scientologist, but just good friends with Jonh Travolta, which is why he made battlefield Earth . . . he is a vegetarian though and does a lot of work with PETA =)
