I have a friend who is an over the road truck driver. Three weeks on the road and 3 days home. He has been one for only about 2 years and has a great record except he has had a few accidents. None were his fault and he has never had a ticket. He was sent to the company's simulator for evaluation and passed it easily. He was put on probation with this company, any accident his fault or not may result in termination. My question is, with this in mind, how difficult would it be for him to get a job with another company? Would these minor accidents that were not his fault have a huge impact on a prospective employers consideration of him?

The accidents can't be hidden. Even if he manages to slip then by a prospective employer, their insurance company will find them in nothing flat, and that is a problem because if they refuse to cover him, and very likely will refuse, the company can't employ him He may need to think of a different career. I know many OTR truckers, and most go many years without being involved in an accident, even an accident caused by another driver. I know of two who have driven OTR for more than 30 years and never been in an accident. I suspect your friend may be happier in another job. It just does not seem normal to have a few accidents in just two years.

I think the issue is insurance, your friend being insurable at an economical cost to the company. Due to the fact that your friend has been involved in a ''few'' accidents in a 2 year period may seem to be a risk factor for insuring him.
Best I can suggest is to check with the company's finance personnel and find out where you stand for being insurable and also check with an insurance broker.
