I used to work for a Pharmaceutical company and the study I actually worked on was the Aricept drug for Alzheimers- I agree with what youre saying but this drug did not work for everyone which is why NICE and the government refuse to pay £2.50 a day per person for it. The trials are still on going so hopefully once the pharma companies can prove there is a clinical benefit for many people by taking this drug, NICE will approve it and then Aricept (or other alzheimers drugs) will be available for people who it can help! At the moment the government dont think its worth paying out all that money for a drug which only helps a small number of people. Its a shame.

Agree with a lot of what has been said but, £2.50 is only the cost of a pint of beer. Surely, the relatives or friends of the person could pay that much pending the NICE review?

Alzheimer sufferers will be the only people to vote labour again because they will have forgot how rubbish they are, so the government wont help them.
