Blimey......a bit of a challenge I would have thought.

You have two choices here :

You could make a boat manufactured from papyrus reed, similar to the Ra 1 and Ra 2 boats made by Thor Heyerdahl. I think this would be the simplest construction.

If you want to build an ancient Greek or Roman vessel, you will be surprised to know that these were actually quite sophisticated boats and required many clever wood-working and joinery techniques.

Link 2 is an archaeology portal to information on ancient ships.

Good luck !

Around ten years ago, they rebuilt the Argo, the ship that Jason supposedly used in the epic Jason and the Argonauts. This was recorded in the National Geographic. They have a website now, and this article may be in their archives. The same person who rebuilt the Argo also made another boat using ancient techniques to travel from the South Americas to Fiji, I think, to prove that the races inhabiting these places are related, and that the population in Fiji migrated from South America. This was also covered by the National Geographic.

Good luck in your quest! I love boats which do not depend too much on technology. I hope you can give me a ride some day!
