why they can't accept that a new person can actually give new input, fresh ideas.. why they stick to their guns and say "this is how it is" even though that yields more negative than positive results?

Fear. People live in realities based on programs much like computers.I didn't realize this until I travelled other continents.It is actually pretty scary when you get back and realize your own programming. People particiapte in groups becuase it makes them feel good. To assume that the basis that these groups are based on are somehow infallible or"better" provides people with a feeling that they are special. Start challenging those and you are screwing with the foundations of their person. Right or wrong It is the way of things. At least as far as I can tell.
