As many have said, .ca is the country suffix for Canadian web addresses.

The 5 common suffixes are .com, .net, .gov, .edu and .org. Most countries in the world use 1 of these suffixes followed by the country suffix

Curiously, Canada does not use any of the 5 common suffixes. So while China uses "china.com.cn" or "china.net.cn", Canada is just "canada.ca". Another country slightly out of the norm is the UK, which uses "unitedkingdom.co.uk" instead of "unitedkingdom.com.uk". The US does not use a country suffix.

You won't be able to get any emails addressed to "@yahoo.com" and the sender will get a "undeliverable mail" message.

You can register another email account at yahoo.com to get the "@yahoo.com" suffix in your email address. However, you will not be able to get the same username as the one that you are using for your "@yahoo.ca" account. So, doing this may be pointless for you.

The best is to be careful when giving out your email address.

The difference is the extension ".com" and ".ca", as far as how they work there really isn't a difference but when someone sends you a e-mail they must use the correct extension because it could be likely some has your email address with ".com". I'm not sure you can change your e-mail with Yahoo but you might be able to create another free account at yahoo.com. I do recommend .com because that is what everyone thinks weather you tell them otherwise or not .com is the standard.

As the other guy mentioned
.ca stands for canada and
.com standards for commercial
if you choose to a email address and mentioned a specific country in your case canada you email address will have .ca
there r many countries with do not have the email srvice providers server so you will end up with .com
it does not have any difference you have .com or .ca the work the same.

Hi... my account is .ph... this is because I registered my yahoo account in the Philippines... it's (sort of) that way to identify your location... You might be from canada, that's why your account comes with .ca... If you're from Australia, your yahoo account would come with .au... and so on and so forth...

.ca is for canada i guess
and .com is for common US people i guess
while registering you would have given your country as canada
and so it came up with extension .ca
