3) I leave the country together with my family and give up my Singapore Citizenship. I hope I don't have to resort to the 3rd option, as I'm a very patriotic Singaporean, who is proud and loves his country. I joined in the Chingay celebrations with total enthusiasm but was very disappointed to see the pollution caused by burning of the Chinese paper money!!
Yes, I've written the above with total frustration. It's 4.45am on Monday, 26th Feb and I'm unable to sleep with the strong smell of smoke in my apartment and a severe sore-throat!! I'd phoned 999 to lodge a complain at 1.55am, and again at 2.10am but to no avail while some of the residents were happily burning the papers till 2.40am with no sign of the police in the vicinity. The 2nd time when I phoned, the person who answered ridiculously asked me where is Block xxx Hougang Avenue x? So much for intelligence and efficiency!! Both times I was assured that the police patrol car was on its way to the vicinity in matter of.......
