I am a novice English teacher in college. I want to motivate some of my students with some hip-hop lyrics. I personally enjoy the music of Mos Def, the Roots, Common, and Public Enemy, but I am a bit indecisive about what might be their "best" lyrics. I leave out the definition of "best" here because I think anyone who's interested in answering the question might want to define it first anyway. Any answer or comment is welcome and will be appreciated. Thanks!

I think "best" is relative and the matter of personal opinion. Personaly my favorite lyric of all time is by Tool , song titled "Stinkfist" : "Boredom is not a burden anyone should bear" .... how true!
The best songwriter hands down is Sarah McLachlan ( in my opinion )
