Yes. In the UK if you're fired you can claim Jobseekers Allowance. This is either Income or Contribution based.

If you get laid off another job within a 4 week period all employers in the quartwer pay benefits.Or if you get laid off and they put your working hours into the next tax quarter so you don't ever qualify for medical either.
