I just got floor tile from a business that was giving it away. Unfortunately, they're all different colors does anyone know if tile can be dyed, painted or stained a different color than what it was originally?

I think the color is what is it is when it is fired in the kilen, maybe you can make a pattern or symbol with the different colors.

I wouldn't recommend trying to dye, paint, or stain the tiles. The glaze on a tile is basically glass. And you can't stain or dye glass. You might be able to paint them, but just like glass anything you try painting on it will be very difficult to get it to stick and stay.

no, tile if its ceramic is non-pourous. the only two options you have here is to try to create a pattern or break it up into mosaic form. use a polmer moidified thinset to install and try for a consistant 1/4 inch grout joint. only reason i mention it is.......... whats wrong with the tile that its a give away...
