get more memory for it

Just do the following: Defragrment you hard drive, check if your Drive C: has 40 GB of memory and your Drive D: has 40GB the total should be approximately 80 GB. If so no need to worry. Delete some unused programs you no longer use, and clear up your desktop a bit. If your RAM is below 100Mbps, upgrade to 300Mbps. Don't believe those people who offer Optimization programs that will speed up your computer, they will suck your wallet dry. Even without those programs I was able to gain the maximum speed my computer can offer. My total hard disk memory is only 20GB and my RAM is 150Mbps, but my computer operates in a blink of an eye. No speeding up software used.

it all depend on the speed u already have, and the speed u want to attain. if it's a celeron processor u can change it to a pentium.
But the basic way is to add more memory, caution be sure to have a compatible memory with the one you already have.
then uninstall un-necessary programs, install a non sophisticated antivirus like avast or avg not noton. noton slows down the system

Be sure to do system defregmentation from start > program > accessories > system tools > system defragmentation , plus do a regular virus scanning BUT if you need real speed add high speed ram like 1 GB RAM

You need to do some maintenance if your computer used to be faster than it is now.

Just google for Spybot, and Adaware {both are free programs} and download & run them, then do a disk clean up & last a defrag.

It should help. good luck!
