First of all, correct ur question. Its not Pete Sampras who was no 1 for 161 consecutive weeks, he was Jimmy Connors. Now, Roger Federer has eclipsed him to be no 1 for most consecutive weeks.

Federer just beat Connors record as world number 1 and yes he will stay there for a long time still. I don't think Nadal has it in him to get to number 1 and stay there. I don't think getting to number 1 is a priority for Agassi anymore...
Andy Roddick might have a brief spike as high as number 1 someday.
The next player people are thinking will be a number 1 for a while is Andy Murray...

Maybe you're confused about which records people hold - everyone up there was correct in stating that Jimmy Connors is the one who had his record broken by Federer.
Sampras is the current record holder for the most weeks at #1 (total) with 286. I think the only one who has the possibility of coming close is federer in our lifetime.

Federer is the undisputed leader at the moment and will continue to be so for some more time. Nadal is only a clay court wonder, so no chance for him becoming No.1. There are other guys consistently winning on all tracks and yes a Russian can overtake Federer

you mean Federer has been no 1 for that length of time. Federer is the only guy that can beat Federer. Agassi has retired and didnt accomplish that task. Nadal is young and has quite some time but must get going quickly to catch up to Federer before his own prime is over.

I believe you have the question backwards. It's Federrer who has 161 weeks tied with Connors until the end of the week. He will then have the longest consecutive streak.

I wish Agassi had had his life together when he was younger the way he did toward the end of his career. He would have been the one to beat.
