He was able to keep it down while in the hospital we did have to wait an extra day so that he could. He had the surgery on Sat. and i would love to take him back to the hospital but its an hour away in houston.

My son had this.2 years ago. Relativly minor surgery, small 1 inch scar, no problems. Im sure things have improved since 35 years ago.!
And when i first fed him after the op (nurses had done it before me) he threw it all back up again!
I would continue just giving him a couple of oz ever couple of hours, dont want to stretch things in there too much just yet. After a few days of 2 oz, increase it a bit. I think you will just have to put up with the no sleep for a bit. Put him in pushchair and go out should work.

Was he able to keep down formula before leaving the hospital?
If so, I would wait an hour or so and then give him two ounces. If he still seems hungry continue to hold him and offer him a pacifier since the sucking will comfort him. If he vomits again after only 2 ounces I would recommend taking him to the ER at the hospital where he had surgery.

My son had that surgery at two weeks old. He is 35 now. Was small incision and supposed to be simple recovery. He cried a lot and acted hungry a lot too. Watch him close-don't let him cry too long or hard. My sons incision (about two inches) eviserated and I had to take him to hospital with intestines held in on top of his body. They said he would probably die during the second surgery due to insides being exposed to air. Infection. But he made it. Second surgery made him look like he had been put back together with barbed wire as the two inch incision ripped his stomach flesh in ragged fashion. Don't let the doctor put you off with that "he probably has gas thing" Give him lots of pedialyte and stay on top of doctor about your concerns. It was on second day home from the surgery when this happened and he had been crying a lot too.
