My monitor recently stopped working. I have a Dell flat panel screen, and the power button flashes on as a large horizontal band moves up the screen. They come on at the same time and it seems as though it is trying to come on but failing. It happens regularly every second or so. Should I bother to take it to be fixed? Is there is something I can do myself? What's wrong with it?

Only thing I can think of is either you have a loose wire or cable; or... your video card is fried... or the monitor is shot.

Try this...

Try using a new or different cable to hook from the tower to the monitor... try the monitor on another computer.

If the same cable and monitor work on another computer, then your video card is fried. If you replace the cable on your present set-up, and the monitor works, then you have fixed it. If the monitor won't work either way, it may need repair or replacement.

Good luck!

Hello! There may be some problems with the graphics card..

Please call the Dell support helpline to ask them the procedure to troubleshoot this issue. If necessary, bring the monitor with the warranty card for the repairs.
