Hello there.
Any Gynecologist will prescribe birth control pills for you. I do feel that it is important to see a doctor before you start taking birth control pills especially if it is for the first time. That way you can be given a clean bill of health before you start taking them. You should also have a paps smear. Most doctors like to have one on record before you ever take bc pills and that way they will have something to compare to later.
It is just a safer way to do it. There may be clinics that will give you pills without an exam but that is really not the safest way to go about it and if you have insurance you may as well get the good care that you are paying for.
Take good care of yourself.
Blessings

It depends on where you go. If you go to planned parenthood you can probably be seen as a walk-in. If you call a doctor tomorrow you may be able to get an appointment for Friday. Look online or in the booklet that your insurance gave you for a gynocologist who accepts your insurance. Getting an appointment on really short notice may be easier with a male doctor because they're not as much in demand as the female ob/gyns.

If you have a good boss they will work with you to make sure you don't lose hours for a dr's appt.

As for your insurance company check to see if they require that you start with a primary care dr first and if they do then check to see if there are any that offer walk-in clinics. If you can't find one then try Planned Parenthood as two of the other posters said.

i would call the insurance company and ask for a list of doctors that accept the insurance and then pick a obgyn or a gynacologist from the list. also i believe doc apts come out of sick time so just tell your boss your going to the doctor.or just ask them for an apt on your day off.
