I work for my dad…

And the other day I was speaking to my boyfriend and his mom about how expensive everything is these days then we stared talking about salaries and I mentioned “I am happy with my salary I think it is good for my age”…my boyfriends mom got up and under her breath she said “you know why you got that salary”….

Later that day I brought up what my boyfriends mom said to my boyfriend and he said “it’s because you don’t know how it feels to work for a real boss…”

I found people just assume that me working for dad is not a real job and that I will not have this job if the boss was not my dad…..

Do you think people that work for family are less intelligent, and are lucky cause if it weren’t for their family, they would not have a job like they do cause they only have this job cause someone in their family has a high position in the company ??

I feel i work really hard ....

It's not that they think you are less intelligent or not fit for the job, they just feel that you had an unfair advantage in the hiring process. If you work for family people will always think you got the job because of that and not your qualifications. I'm not saying you should find another job or anything but it's human nature for people to feel that you had an unfair advantage. Don't expect the problem to go away without changing jobs though....

If you work hard and do your best don't worry about what others think. Yes, some people are given jobs only because they are family, but that has nothing to do with whether or not they are intelligent. (At least not in most cases.) Let the pettiness of others roll off your back as long as YOU know you are intelligent and a hard, productive worker. Good Luck & God bless.

your dad is a real boss so you do know how it is to work for one. and if dad wants to pay you a good salary so you have a good start on an independant life then so be it. and at least you can say you got that job thru legal means. be proud and ignore the jealous.

this is one of those judgement call questions.

many things that are out of our control are double edged like a sword. there are good features and, on the other hand, there are bad features. alas there are also stereotypes born out of these conditions.

everyone is entitled to an opinion. so let them have those opinions, however erroneous. if you let said opinions interrupt or defeat you then they will have the last laugh.

see, your parents will not be around forever. that is an unfortunate given. and if you have prepared yourself for that eventuality then you will have the pleasure to show the world what you are really made of. until then, enjoy your father's love and concern for your well being while you may.

my good wishes are with you........carpe diem.

I would never value the opinion of someone who says something like that under their breath
