Is it possible to play golf in less than 3 hours?

My husband came home around 4pm, got his golf shoes, changed his shirt, and said he was going to go play golf with a friend and he'll be home in a couple of hours. I go to the gym around 7 and he came home 20 minutes before I left. He used to plan going golfing with a buddy and got up around 9am and was gone most of the day. He never would answer his cell when we went then because he said it was rude when playing but I was pregnant at the time and he left it on after I asked in case of emergency. Today, I'm not pregnant and yet he answered his phone. It was too quiet for him to be outside, yet he talked in an hushed voice. Something doesn't feel right with me and I was wondering, is it really possible to golf in less than 3 hours???

I asked this question 2x because it really bothers me and I wanted to get as many answers as possible, thank you everyone.

It is possible to play 9 holes in less than 3 hours. And even that takes at least 2.5 if he is alone.

There is no way in the world he did 18 holes in less than 3 hours unless he had the entire course to himself which is very doubtful.
That takes 5 to 6 hours minimum.

For the record I hope all is well and goes well and nothing becomes of it because there's nothing more important than family.

Regarding your most recent comments: If he is a regular at that particular course than all of that stuff will be ready to go. You don't have to wait for all that stuff any more, but that's if he's a regular. The big question is how many holes will he say he played. If he says 9 or he just went to hit some balls then it's possible. If he say 18 holes then we have a problem.

I'm really hoping he went just to get some swings in and answered the phone in the mens room or shower. Keep your cool.

It is possible to play nine hole in about 3 hours, but youwill never get an appointment to start playing golf at 4 in the afternoon, by then they are getting finished with the games, but I think there is something fishy going on, If I were you I would delve deeper into the fact that it did not even take 3 hours to play the holes, depending on the speed people play they normally have breakfast at 11 and then you have been on the golf coarse since seven, so it's 4 hours to play either the front or the back nine holes. No hu8n I think there is a other hole he is visiting.........

With no one around on a Tuesday afternoon, I've *walked* a regulation 18 hole course and played every shot in 2 hours 45 minutes.

That same course on a Saturday can take 6 and a half hours.

He could've played 9 holes. And courses can be very quiet as they are often tree-lined and secluded. But the 'don't answer your phone' part is crap.

Forget wondering and trying to figure it out by tiny subtle clues and your spider sense tingling.

Check - credit card & ATM statements, cell phone records, and car mileage. He can't be banging someone else without money, phone and a car.

if they don't play all 18 holes, yes, Have you asked him? If he was cheating on you he wouldn't have answered the phone so take a deep breath and be like hey how did golf go? what did you score? How many holes did you do, maybe he was just practicing putting, or maybe at a driving range. How do you know that it was too quiet? Your worrying about probably nothing, but if there is something then in time you will know for sure. :)

18 holes in under 3 hours is easily done unless you get slowed by others.

I play in 2 1/2 hours frequently, any more than 3 1/2 hours, and I start to get anxious about the slow play.

I can't imagine the agony of a 5 hour round....

it is not required to play all 18 holes. I have had rounds of 9,12,14 ect, so if your wanting to find out if your gut feeling is justified, timing a golf round isn't reliable.

ya its possible, just depends on how many holes they play or how talkative they are between shots and most of all how good they are, but it does sound pretty suspicious
