can i use ms access? can i use it freely with vb.net without any license? please guide me!

Yes, you can use access, your machine doesn't even need to have office installed, although I do believe you need to make sure the Jet Drivers exist (I think they're standard on Windows 2000 and up). You don't need any licenses either.

Or you can use SQL Server Express, I would choose this one. Both options are going to restrict you to one-machine access (meaning you can't store the database on a server and have multiple clients connect to it, although you can write a database management application to facilitate this purpose).

SQL Server Express performs better, is free, and comes with the nifty SQL Server Management tool.

I think from memory you have to license the Jet engine (the database engine used in Access) but you can get a few open source databases; personally I like Firebird.

Microsoft has an express version of SQL

If you have MsAccess installed on your PC and target machines you can use it. (older versions used JET but I believe that the newer versions starting with 2003 are using a SQL engine under the hood)

For database at present MySQL is the best for mysql there are many free newsletters and forums available. And also we can download the installation files for all os.
