I have been searching the internet for the best laptop deal I can find for my wife. We're getting our taxes back soon and a laptop is on our wishlist.

Unless you're on a really tight budget I would avoid a Celeron or Semperon Processor. These processors are budget models that are basically stripped down versions of last years models.

My personal choice of processor right now would be either a Intel Core Duo or Core Duo 2.

I would recommed at least 1Gb of RAM. If you can afford it. Especially if your new laptop comes with Window Vista.

An average laptop hard drive right now is around 80 GB. If they tell you hard driver even if they are the same size aren't all equal. They come in different speeds. Laptop drives come in 4200 RPM, 5400 RPM, and 7200RPM. If you have a choice pick the largest 5400 RPM drive you can afford. 7200 RPM drives are faster but they cost way way more.

Once again unless you're on a really tight budget get a dvd burner, wireless, Windows XP Pro, or Window Vista Home Premium.

Here is a link to the best bang for your buck laptop I found on my search for my wifes new laptop. And it's at walmart of all places. I think it's online only I haven't found it in the store or at Sams.

You want 1gb ram, at lesat 80gb hard, a duel core processor. all of the rest of the stuff isn't too important unless you want to run games than make shurre it has at least 128mb graphics memory.

I work in the IT industry and use laptops all of the time. Do not get Dell or HP because most of the computers that come to me for repair are dell and HP. I see the least of Acer and Toshiba. Personally i have an acer because it was good value and from working on them they use good parts and are good to service.

If possible don't get vista yet see if you can get one that is compatible with a cheap upgrade so that you can install it in about 6 months when the service pack 1 is released and it will be more stable than it is now. if you have any more questions e-mail me

# 1 Mac doesn't get viruses that easily compared to Windows, and that is because Mac is unknown compared to windows.

#2 Windows is very vulnerable to virsues and that is because windows gets more attention than Mac. However, would you rob 10% of Pc users to get rich than to rob 90%? That's just a fact there.

Note that windows mean PC.

#3 Mac is limited to softwares

#4 Windows is not limited to softwares

#5 Mac is slower than PC

#6 PC is faster and more advantangeous than Mac

# 7 10% of the world use Mac, while 90% use PC

# 8 Mac uses two OS's at once, windows and Mac OS, and that is because Mac wants more attention by using windows OS
#9 PC only uses one OS, which is Windows, and they're various versions. PC will not run Mac OS, and that is because PC doesn't need Mac OS. Unlike Mac.

#10 Mac plays games, but very limited, while a PC is best known as entertainment computers, plays games to the max and much more.

You decide which one you refer now.

P.S. Anybody who said Mac has a better GPU ( Graphic Card) doesn't know crap about computer... PC has the best and most advance GPU over Mac by far, and that is because Windows needs the best Graphic card to play games. like Mac, they're no good on playing games, so how would they have the best GPU?

Windows is much better. Get a Vista laptop. I recommend Dell over all computers... End of discussion

The first option you MUST choose when deciding to buy a PC is the CPU. You need Intel 2.Ghz up.

You need a good HHD ( Hard drive)_ 100GB

You need a good graphic card, especially if you like to play games and watch DVD movies. Choose Geforce Go 7900GS

You need a good DVD burning, a DVD RW

I hope I helped.

what's your budget- pay as much as you can afford (laptops are more difficult to upgrade later)

true two weeks later you will be kicking yourself as there will be a better option.

you want (min)-
1gb ram
80gb hdd
fastest processor (pref core duo or equiv)
absolute min 128 ram for graphics (unless you are a serious game player and thus want more)
b and g wifi
dvd burner

only buy a laptop from one of the big boys- they are less likely to go bust

wrt customer services

dell have improved
hp great
acer and toshiba are crap
sony- hmmmmmn(look great though)

also expect the battery to only last a couple of years

avoid vista but get vista compatable- vista will be cack for at least a year
